IELTS Online
IELTS Online is a version of IELTS Academic that you take at home, on your own computer, invigilated by camera. The test is delivered directly by the British Council, not by our centre.

Check three things before you book
- Whether your organisation accepts it. The IELTS partners advise you to check this before you book. TU Delft, for example, states on its website that it does not accept IELTS Online.
- Whether you need the result for a visa. IELTS Online is not accepted for immigration applications.
- Whether you are 18 or over. Younger candidates take the test at a centre.

Booking
IELTS Online is booked on the British Council’s website. If you can come to Zagreb or Split, the result of a test at a centre arrives sooner, and some countries also accept it for immigration applications: IELTS Academic.

Questions and answers
Is the content of the test the same?
Yes. The IELTS partners state that IELTS Online has the same content and format as IELTS Academic at a test centre, and the Speaking test is a conversation with an examiner by video call.
